After finishing the title piece, Portrait of a Sunset, I thought I needed just one more smaller number to round out the project. Still thinking about growing up on the Salem River, I looked through some old photos I had taken and saw the end of the Salem River as it fed into the Delaware River. One of my favorite adventures was to canoe on the Salem River and land on one of the south-west beaches of Hickory Island. From this small island, you could see the Salem River as it ended and connected with the Delaware River. As a teenager, it was such a wonderful feeling to be alone in a canoe on the river. This piece includes Davide Bonomo on flute and Charlot Rivero on cello.

3*6*9

This project is a collection of Jazz/Rock and Atmospheric compositions. After reading the book “Tesla – Inventor of the electrical age”. I decided to write a song (Moonlight On Knob Hill) based on the iconic 1899 photograph of Nikola Tesla sitting in front of his generator in his Colorado Springs Laboratory. From there it was very easy to keep writing material about the life of the inventor.

Keepsakes

“We all have our time machines, don’t we. Those that take us back are memories… And those that carry us forward are dreams.” – H. G. Wells.

At the completion of my CD “Waiting”, I decided to start on another project immediately. I’m not sure whether it was my turning 60 or the fact that 2020 was a year that had me wishing for another time, but either way I found myself drawn to stories of time travel. I did not begin this project with the idea it would be a concept CD, and it’s not but it does seem to feel like one. It Just proves how much your writing is influenced by your situation, whether you realize it or not.

“Keepsakes”, just like the CD “Waiting”, is a collection of jazz/rock, atmospheric and symphonic compositions. I have written, performed, recorded and produced all the music on this CD.

Just a small electric guitar solo from my CD Keepsakes. Emika – Japanese – blessed, beautiful child.

The youtube video link below is of the song Emika from photos of Tori Yamashita’s extremely cute dog Kooza at various sites in Japan.

Waiting

a collection of jazz/rock, atmospheric and symphonic compositions. I have written, performed, recorded and produced all the music on this CD.

“All good things arrive unto them that wait, and don’t die in the meantime”. – Mark Twain.

In 1978 I recorded my first song “I don’t Know Why” and ever since then I have wanted to write and record an entire LP (or CD). After 42 years of composing and performing music I have over 20 hours of recorded music. With all that musical output I had not produced one full project. I’m not sure what I was waiting for.

In 2019 I started writing small tone poems, Waiting was the first piece. I got the idea for this while on a trip to Maine and seeing a lighthouse.
